MiniNOVO Prototype

The NOVO detector array aims to provide real-time dose verification during proton therapy treatments. As the clinical environment is quite complex, it is valuable to gain first experiences with a simplified setup under controlled conditions. This is the motivation for the current measurement campaign at the ELBE facility at HZDR. A prototype of the NOVO detector measures photons and neutrons emitted by a radioactive source, mimicking the secondary radiation released during proton therapy. The whole setup is mounted on a motorised table and can be moved in two dimensions. The aim of the measurements is to take images of the source at different positions and thus verify the shifts introduced.
