Work Package 4

Tests & Validation

———

This work package (WP4) focuses on the rigorous testing and clinical validation of the NOVCoDA system across multiple specialized facilities. Initial characterization of detector modules will be conducted at high-energy neutron sources, including nELBE (HZDR), PIAF (PTB), and NfS (GANIL), to optimize the technical design of the NOVO detector elements. Subsequent validation will take place at the R&D proton beamlines of OncoRay and the Haukeland University Hospital (HUH) clinical gantry environment, where the system’s performance will be assessed under standard and FLASH irradiation conditions. These tests aim to confirm the system's ability to resolve 1–2 mm range shifts using medical phantoms, perform tissue compositional analysis, and demonstrate the seamless integration of the NOVO concept into clinical adaptive therapy workflows.
